Beauty trends come and go, but getting rid of unsightly hair is a perennial concern for many people. Treatments for permanent hair removal are one of the most popular and sought-after aesthetic procedures today, helping men and women around the globe get rid of unwanted hair on the face and body. These treatments used to take a long time and be quite painful, with varying results, but modern advancements in hair removal technology have made uncomfortable hair removal a thing of the past.
There’s an array of hair removal technologies out there, each with its advantages and disadvantages. The two widely-used technologies trusted by aesthetic treatment providers for optimal laser hair removal results are IPLs (Intense Pulsed Light), and diode laser technology. Both work by delivering energy to the hair follicle, where it’s absorbed by the hair pigment. This destroys the follicle so that the hair cannot grow anymore, resulting in permanent hair reduction*. Most people seeking a permanent reduction in hair growth will require 4-6 sessions, but this can vary for each individual depending on their skin type, hair color and texture, and the area being treated.
Hair removal treatments are optimal for people seeking long-lasting results. Best of all, the sessions are fast and comfortable. They can be completed over a lunch break, with no downtime, meaning it’s safe to return to work or resume your normal activities immediately after treatment. Using advanced laser technology also ensures a comfortable hair removal experience. During treatment, you’ll feel some heat in the area, but this will be minimized by a real-time cooling system that keeps the comfort level high. The laser itself feels like a series of light snaps as the technician glides the applicator continuously across the treatment area.
Early laser treatments for hair removal were typically very slow and painful, and they were typically only safe on a small range of skin shades. Thankfully, science has come a long way since then. Today, diode laser technology is clinically proven to remove hair safely and effectively using wavelengths of energy. This energy deeply penetrates the melanin in the hair root, disrupting the follicle and disabling hair growth. The result is smooth, stubble-free skin for a lifetime. Imagine never having to shave, wax, or pluck for a long time!
With the proven efficacy of diode laser technology and a real-time cooling system, Venus Velocity™ and Venus Epileve™ provide the optimal balance between comfort and long-lasting results. The versatile applicators can be used on all areas of the face and body, anywhere undesired hair is present. Like all Venus Concept devices, they are designed to be safe for all skin types, including darker skin tones.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) has wide use cases that range from photorejuvenation to acne treatments, and hair removal depending on the wavelengths that are used to target different anatomies of the skin. Venus Versa™ uses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) with SmartPulse™ technology to deliver hair removal treatments that ensure safe and consistent heat distribution, while a real-time cooling system works to keep your skin protected from the heat.
The treatments are comfortable, swift, and deliver long-lasting results for smooth skin that’s free of unwanted hair. Like the devices mentioned above, Venus Versa™ can be used on the face and body, delivering energy deep into the hair follicle to disrupt growth.
Both IPL and diode laser technology are excellent for hair removal. Which one is right for you is a decision your treatment provider will help you make, along with a customized plan for reducing unwanted hair for good. Find a clinic near you today by using the search field below.
