Skin conditions: Post ablative, laser and IPL treated skin, irritation and sensitivity
Semi-ablative skin procedures such as RF Microneedling (Venus Viva™) initiate an inflammatory response, increase transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and may have potential for environmental contamination. Many practitioners rely on occlusive products based on petroleum jelly (e.g. Aquafor) during recovery. Unfortunately, these products are inert and do not offer any healing but instead act solely as a barrier. Venus Skin™’s Bio Cel offers a superior alternative, one uniquely suited for such procedures.
Quenching inflammation is important in promoting rapid comfortable recovery while simultaneously reducing chances of inflammation related sequelae such as hyperpigmentation and fibrosis. Bio Cel Occlusive Gel contains recombinant TGFbeta 3, clinically proven ingredients that tend to suppress inflammation following controlled traumatic injury of the skin. Hydrogen orthoborate provides additional anti-inflammatory as well as analgesic and bacteriostatic effects. Fully hydrated hyaluronic acid provides a moisturizing barrier function that prevents tissue desiccation while promoting healing.
Skin aging has intrinsic (genetic) and extrinsic (environmental) causes. Selecting one’s parents is not an option but making wise lifestyle choices certainly is. Avoiding or protecting against solar radiation is key since experts agree 80% and more of skin aging is caused by ultraviolet radiation. Smoking is another major cause of skin damage, as is ozone and other toxins. These factors all cause free radicals and inflammation, something recognized as contributing to aging in all tissues. Even micro-trauma from gravity and countless facial expressions plays a role.
Epidermal and dermal thinning, abnormal cross links in collagen fibrils, elastin destruction, reduced sebum production and stimulation of resident melanocytes cause loss of elasticity, poor tone and texture, fine lines and uneven pigmentation with mottling and dark or light spots.

Use immediately post any ablative, fractional or laser treatment. Apply as often as needed throughout the day to the procedure treatment area using fingertips. Product is not meant to be rubbed into the skin but used to create an occlusive barrier that protects and promotes healing.
As with all skin care products, avoid direct contact with eyes. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with tepid water. If irritation develops, discontinue use immediately and contact a physician before reapplication.
